Just been out in the shed and have come up with a easy fix for paramotor starter motors that have soft springs in them .
A while ago I got some new springs sent from JPX ,the Italian company that make the Cors-Air motors , so I could replace the spring in my starter motor as it allowed the little gear to tap on the large ring gear at low idle.
It does not do any damage at all but it is annoying having this noise in the background while flying and sounds crappy to others while you are in the air .
After putting 2 new springs in and having the same noise appear ,I had an idea. I went back to my first temp fix of two washers installed on the spring retainer spigot.It works fine]but you need to take the starter off and apart.
So I have now come up with a way that these washers can be fitted without removing or taking the starter motor apart so its a 20 second job to fix now.
These starters are common on almost all motors used in paramotors so if you have one of these starters that tap the ring here is the remedy:
