First off I am not a rocket scientist! I am a chemist by trade. I have just started flying and my main concern was having a good time gone bad by running out of fuel. So I thought how could this simple problem be solved cheaply and also simple.
Here is what I did to my Airfer Tornado, It had 5 hours today and I am still breaking it in.
I went to Radio Shack for some parts: LED light "the blinking kind" some thin wire and a battery box, 2 AA batteries.
I got a sensor off the internet:
First take off the gas tank, Drill a hole in the tank around 2 1/2 little mark 5/8 drill bit. (25 minute warning before its landing time.
Install sensor. This sensor is a self sealing sensor that chemical companies use in there tanks to measure levels.
Reinstall the fuel tank on frame.
Wiring I used two AA batteries and a battery box you can find at Radio Shack and all you do is make a simple circuit.
As the float falls it completes the circuit and the LED starts to Flash, which is right by myTinyTach.
